The account of Charlemagne's expedition to Spain is told in the "Pseudo Turpin" volume of the Codex Calixtinus. Much later documents state that he deposited relics of St James (and of other Apostles) at the church of St Sernin in Toulouse. This volume prints all relevant documents, and also the archaeological examination in 2018. No need to stop going to Santiago!
