Mâle's better-known work "The Gothic Image" (#00208, in BKA) is subtitled ""Religious art in France of the 13th century. This volume widens the scope (with some overlap) from the 12th to the 18th century. Includes chapters on the art of the various pilgrim roads, and a chapter on Ste Foy of Conques.
