The author, inspired by the work of art historians (e.g. Porter, #00245) on the Roads to Santiago, looked for evidence of a similar process on the Roads to Rome (and Jerusalem). Many references to Santiago, especially concerning the skull fragment (mastoid process) of St James donated by Santiago to Pistoia in the 12th C. Also references to St Leonard, patron of prisoners, whose main shrine is at Noblat on the Voie de Vézelay.
Donated by Peter Fitzgerald.
