Abbot Brendan and his monks build a boat "to go in search of the Promised Land of the Saints, of which Father Barrind spoke ... for we have decided to be pilgrims for the days of our life that remain". The classic example of perpetual pilgrimage in the Celtic monastic tradition. Another translation is included in #07839, "Visions of Heaven and Hell before Dante", ed. Gardiner, in BKA-G.
