The Finchale Camino, named after St Godric of Finchale (sometime pilgrim to Santiago) leads from Finchale to Durham, Bishop Auckland, and to the Saxon church at Escomb. It has been accepted in Santiago as a pilgrim route in one's home country, added on to the Coruna branch of the Camino inglés to make the necessary distance for a compostela. A longer version goes on to Gainford and links with other Northern Saints Trails.
